Contrast therapy in the comfort of your own home or on the go with the portable Floe Infrared Sauna Blanket and Floe Original Ice Bath.

Contrast Therapy Benefits

Hot Cold contrast therapy

  • Reduces inflammation

The alternating temperatures might assist with reducing inflammation or swelling in injuries.

  • Improves mood and boosts energy levels

Some people find the practice invigorating and report a mood boost.

  • Aids recovery

Contrast therapy may help lessen delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) after intense workouts

  • Improve circulation and metabolic function

The "pumping" action of blood vessel dilation and constriction could enhance blood circulation.

  • Deeper sleep

One of the primary requirements for falling asleep is a drop in your core body temperature. Contrast therapy, especially ending with a cold cycle, can mimic this natural cooling process

  • Helps boost immune system

Exposure to cold through contrast therapy may stimulate the production of white blood cells

How to Guide

  • Step 1 - Prepare

Fill your ice bath with cold water and add a generous amount of ice to bring the temperature down significantly. Place your infrared sauna blanket on a comfortable surface and follow the setup instructions.

  • Step 2 - Heat

Get inside the sauna blanket and heat up for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on your comfort and don't overheat.

  • Step 3 - Cold

Immediately upon exiting the sauna, carefully immerse yourself in the ice bath for 1-3 minutes. This part will be intense! Focus on controlled breathing.

  • Step 4 - Repeat

You can repeat the sauna and ice bath cycle once or twice more, always ending on a cold cycle.

  • Step 5 - Recover

Dry yourself off, put on warm clothes, and continue hydrating. Relax and allow your body to recover.

  • Listen to Your Body

    • Start with shorter durations, especially for the ice bath, and gradually increase if tolerated.
    • Listen to your body! If something feels too uncomfortable, stop immediately.
    • This therapy isn't recommended for pregnant women, children, or people with serious heart conditions

Contrast Therapy FAQ

Best practice & Considerations
Is hot/cold contrast therapy safe?

For most healthy individuals, contrast therapy is considered safe when practiced with moderation and proper precautions. However, it's crucial to consult your doctor before starting, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions like cardiovascular problems, diabetes, or sensory impairments.

How often should I do contrast therapy?

Frequency depends on your individual goals and tolerance. Athletes recovering from workouts might use it more frequently (a few times a week), while others seeking general well-being benefits may practice one to two times a week. It's essential to listen to your body and allow for rest days.

What temperature should the water be?

"Cold" should be chilly enough to induce a noticeable change, usually around 50-60°F (10-15°C). Don't push yourself to extreme temperatures to avoid shock.

Are there any side effects I should be aware of?

Temporary redness, tingling, or a burning sensation on the skin are common and usually subside quickly. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur – get out immediately and rest if you experience these.
